Once your booked time has passed, your consultation can be marked as completed. Good news: you don't have to do anything — but if you'd like to close it off yourself, here's how.
Before you start: where the End button is
Once the scheduled end time of your booking has passed, the Join Meeting button on the Call details tab is replaced by an End button, with the hint: "Your scheduled time has passed. End the appointment to mark it completed — the summary will appear once it is ready."
Step-by-step
- Open the Consults tab → Telehealth.
- Tap the consultation.
- On the Call details tab, tap End. A confirmation appears: "End appointment — Mark this consult as completed? Your vet can still add notes, and the call summary will appear once it is ready."
- Tap End appointment (or Keep open if you tapped by mistake).
You'll see the toast "Your appointment has been completed ✅" and the status changes to Ended.
You can't end it early
If you try to end a consultation before its scheduled end time, the app tells you: "The appointment can be ended only after its scheduled end time." Wait until your booked slot has finished, then try again.
Please note: ending the appointment does not stop the follow-up. Your vet can still add their notes, and the recording and summary appear once they're ready.
It happens automatically anyway
If you never tap End, Ask A Vet marks the consultation as completed automatically 30 minutes after the scheduled start, and sends you the summary notification when it's ready. Tapping End is optional.
Tip: once a consultation is completed, the Cancel option is no longer offered — completed calls can't be cancelled or refunded from the app.
What if I never joined the call?
The booking is still marked completed 30 minutes after the start time. [CONFIRM: the policy for missed consultations — whether a refund or credit is available if the owner doesn't join, and how customers should request it.]
