Short answer: yes. Deleting your Ask A Vet account cancels any active subscription immediately, and the unused portion of your current billing period is refunded automatically. You don't need to cancel your subscription first.
What happens to your subscription
When you confirm the deletion:
- Your subscription is cancelled immediately — billing stops on the spot, and there are no further charges.
- The unused portion of your current billing period is refunded automatically to the payment method you paid with. You only pay for the time you actually used.
There's nothing you need to do to trigger this — it's part of account deletion.
Please note: the refund is issued straight away on our side, but how long it takes to appear on your statement depends on your bank or card issuer.
Cancelling vs deleting
They're still two very different things:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Cancelling your subscription | Stops billing at the end of your paid period but keeps your account, pets and data. |
| Deleting your account | Removes your data permanently and can't be undone — and cancels your subscription immediately, with the unused time refunded. |
Important: if you only want to stop paying, cancel your subscription instead of deleting your account — see "How to cancel your Ask A Vet subscription". Cancelling keeps every pet profile and record, and you keep full access until the end of the period you've paid for.
Charged after deleting your account?
That shouldn't happen — deletion stops billing immediately. If you do see a charge dated after your account was deleted, contact us at support@askavet.com with the email address the account used and, if you have it, a copy of the charge. We'll put it right.
