After your call, Ask A Vet puts everything from the consultation in one place — the vet's written notes, the video recording, and an automatic write-up of what was discussed. Here's what each part contains and when it appears.
Where to find it
- Open the Consults tab → Telehealth.
- Tap the consultation (the screen is titled Call with Vet).
- Switch from Call details to the Summary tab.
Tip: when your summary is ready you get a notification titled "{pet name}'s visit summary is ready / Tap to read it." Tapping it opens the Summary tab directly. If the notification appears while you're using the app, tap Open summary.
Card 1 — Vet's notes
Written by your vet after the consultation, under five headings:
- Reason for visit
- History
- Exam
- Assessment
- Plan
If the vet chose not to write up the visit, the card reads "The vet did not document this visit.", followed by their reason if they gave one.
Card 2 — Video recording
The recording of your consultation, ready to play back. A copy is also filed in your pet's documents as "Telehealth recording — YYYY-MM-DD", so you can find it later alongside your pet's other records.
Card 3 — AI generated notes
An automatic write-up produced from the conversation during the call. It includes a short summary plus:
- Diagnosis
- Medications (name, dose, route and frequency)
- Recommended tests
- Home care
- When to seek emergency care — shown as a highlighted callout
Please note: the AI notes are generated only from what was actually said during the consultation — nothing is added from elsewhere. They're a convenience summary, not a replacement for your vet's own notes or instructions. If anything looks wrong or unclear, follow the vet's notes and get in touch with a vet.
When it appears
The summary is put together after the call ends and the recording has finished processing. Until then you'll see status messages such as "Summary will be available after your appointment." or "Recording is being processed. We'll notify you when it's ready."
You get a notification and an email once it's ready.
