Signing in to Ask A Vet takes two things: telling us whether you're a pet owner or a veterinarian, and entering your email and password. Here's the full flow, plus how to sign out again.
Step-by-step
- Open the Ask A Vet app. The first time you reach the Login screen, a sheet opens automatically — Welcome to Ask A Vet / "Tell us who you're signing in as."
- Tap I'm a Pet Owner (or I'm a Veterinarian) and then Continue.
- Enter your Email and Password.
- Tap Log In.
Once a role is saved, the Login screen shows it as a card — Pet owner or Veterinarian — with a Change button. Tap Change any time to reopen the role sheet.
Please note: the Log In button stays greyed out until a role is selected and your email and password fields are valid.
If two-factor authentication is on
After you tap Log In, we email a 6-digit sign-in code and the Verify your email sheet opens. Enter the code and tap Verify to finish signing in. The email has the subject "Your Ask A Vet sign-in code."
Staying signed in
You don't need to log in every time you open the app — your session renews quietly in the background as you use Ask A Vet. You'll only be sent back to the Login screen if that renewal can't happen, or if you log out yourself.
How to log out
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Logout.
Logging out signs you out on that device, stops push notifications going to it, and clears the app's locally stored data.
Please note: logging out also clears your saved role choice, so the "Tell us who you're signing in as" sheet will appear again next time. Logging out on one device does not sign you out on your other devices.
