Seeing a banner across your tracker screens asking for Bluetooth? Don't worry — your tracker is fine and still tracking. This is only about the direct link between this phone and the collar.
What you'll see
Bluetooth permission needed — "Allow Bluetooth so this phone can connect to {your pet}'s tracker nearby. Tap to open Settings."
The banner is tappable.
Why this happens
Pairing is the only part of the app that asks for Bluetooth permission. If this phone never ran the pairing flow, it was never asked. That's most common when:
- You've signed in on a second phone, or a new handset.
- A family member opened a shared pet's tracker on their own phone.
- You declined the Bluetooth prompt earlier.
The app asks once per session, and shows the banner if you say no.
How to fix it
- Tap the banner.
- In your phone's settings, allow Bluetooth for Ask A Vet.
- Return to the app — it reconnects on its own once it's back in the foreground. There's nothing to re-pair.
Check the Bluetooth radio too
On iPhone, Bluetooth simply being switched off on the phone can look the same. Check Bluetooth is on in your phone's settings before assuming it's a permission problem.
Does this stop my tracking?
No. Your pet's location keeps arriving over the tracker's own mobile connection, whether or not this phone has a Bluetooth link. Bluetooth is used for the faster, more battery-friendly connection when you and your pet are together, for the tracker light, and for the firmware update to the tracker's Bluetooth chip.
