The Join Meeting button changes depending on where your booking is in its life cycle — so if it looks wrong, there's usually a simple explanation.
Jump to:
- The button is greyed out
- There's no Join button at all
- The button now says End
- The buttons have disappeared entirely
- The link opens but the meeting has gone
The button is greyed out
Underneath it you'll see "Available 5 minutes before your call." That's all this is — it's simply too early. The button unlocks exactly 5 minutes before your scheduled start time and the screen updates itself, so you can leave it open.
There's no Join button at all
Your booking isn't Confirmed yet. Check the status at the top of the Call details tab:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending | Checkout hasn't been completed. Tap Continue payment to finish. |
| Awaiting vet | You've paid, but the vet hasn't accepted yet. |
The meeting link is only created when the vet accepts, so there's nothing to join before then. If the vet doesn't accept before the scheduled start, the booking is cancelled automatically and refunded in full.
The button now says "End"
Your booked end time has passed. The hint reads "Your scheduled time has passed. End the appointment to mark it completed — the summary will appear once it is ready." Tap End to close the consultation off, or leave it — it's marked completed automatically 30 minutes after the start time.
The buttons have disappeared entirely
The consultation is finished or cancelled. Completed, cancelled and expired consultations have no actions left on them.
The link opens but the meeting has gone
When a consultation is cancelled, the meeting is ended and its link is removed, so an old link from an email won't work. Check the status of the booking in the app — if it says Cancelled, a refund will have been issued.
Quick fixes to try
- Close and reopen the appointment — it reloads the latest status every time you open it. The screen also refreshes itself every 10 seconds once you're close to the call.
- Check the status — you need Confirmed for a Join button to exist.
- Check your Google Calendar invite email, which contains the same meeting link. If the app is misbehaving, you can join from there.
- Check your internet connection — the app needs to be online to load the meeting link.
When to contact support
If your consultation is Confirmed, the start time has arrived, and there's still no way to join, contact Ask A Vet support straight away so we can help before the slot passes. [CONFIRM: support contact channel — email address or in-app route.]
