Waiting on a 6-digit code that hasn't shown up? Don't worry — this is almost always a spam-folder or typo issue, and it's quick to sort out. The steps below apply to every code Ask A Vet sends: sign-up, sign-in with two-factor authentication, password reset and account deletion.
Jump to:
- The email just hasn't arrived yet
- I might have entered the wrong address
- The app said the code couldn't be sent
- I have several code emails and none work
1. Check spam and junk first
The Verify your email sheet says it for a reason: "Please also ensure you check your spam folder." Also check promotions, updates and any filtered folders.
Emails come from Ask A Vet, from an address ending in @askavet.com. Add the sender to your contacts so future codes land in your inbox.
These are the subject lines to search for:
| Subject line | Sent for |
|---|---|
| "Your Ask A Vet verification code" | Sign-up |
| "Your Ask A Vet sign-in code" | Two-factor sign-in |
| "Reset your Ask A Vet password" | Password reset |
| "Your Ask A Vet account deletion code" | Account deletion |
2. Resend the code
In the code sheet, the label under the boxes reads "Didn't receive OTP?" with a countdown — "Resend OTP in N sec". Wait for it to reach zero, then tap Resend OTP.
Please note: resends are blocked for 30 seconds after the sheet opens and after each resend. This is normal — just wait for the countdown.
3. Check the address the code was sent to
- Signing up: the code goes to the address you typed on the Sign Up form. A typo there means the email is genuinely gone — close the sheet, correct the address and tap Create an account again.
- Two-factor sign-in, password change and account deletion: the code always goes to the email address registered on your account, not to any other address.
4. If the app says the code couldn't be sent
"Failed to send OTP. Please try again later." means the email never left — nothing was saved either. Wait a minute and tap Create an account again.
5. Use only the newest email
Each new code replaces the one before it. If several code emails are sitting in your inbox, only the most recent one will be accepted — check the timestamps and use the latest.
Tip: the Verify button stays greyed out until all six boxes are filled, so if it won't respond, check for an empty box.
If it still doesn't work
Try a different email address if you can, or contact us at support@askavet.com — include the address you're expecting the code on.
