Setting up your Ask A Vet account takes a couple of minutes. You'll enter a few details, confirm your email with a 6-digit code, and you're in — no separate login step needed.
Before you start
Make sure Pet owner is selected on the Login screen. If the role card says Veterinarian, tap Change and pick I'm a Pet Owner — veterinarian accounts can't be created from the app; they're set up by the Ask A Vet team.
Step-by-step
- On the Login screen, tap Create an account at the bottom (under "New here?").
- Fill in the Sign Up form: First name, Last name, Email, Phone, Password and Confirm password.
- For your phone number, tap the country flag to pick your country code first — the number is checked against the country you select.
- Choose a password that meets the rule below, then re-type it in Confirm password.
- Tap Create an account. We'll email a 6-digit code to the address you entered.
- Enter the code in the Verify your email sheet and tap Verify.
- That's it — you'll see "Your account has been created successfully 🎉 Welcome to Ask A Vet!" and you're signed in automatically.
Password requirements
Your password must be at least 8 characters and include:
- one uppercase letter
- one lowercase letter
- one number
- one special character
If it doesn't match, the form shows: "Use at least 8 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, a number, and a special character."
Please note: your first and last name each need at least 2 characters (up to 100). Names are automatically capitalised for you.
Didn't get the code?
The Verify your email sheet reminds you to "Please also ensure you check your spam folder." You can request a new code once the 30-second countdown finishes and the label changes from "Resend OTP in N sec" to Resend OTP. Only the newest code works — a resend replaces the previous one.
Finish setting up
After verification you'll be walked through a short one-time setup: a You're registered! confirmation ("Your account has been created. A couple of quick steps and you're in."), the Terms & Conditions (tap Accept & Continue), and choosing your plan. Once that's done, the main app opens.
If you close the app partway through, Ask A Vet remembers where you got to and picks up from there next time.
Tip: you'll also get a "Welcome to Ask A Vet" email with three suggested first steps — add your pet, try AI Vet Chat, and book your first telehealth consult.
