If someone no longer needs access to your pets, you can remove them from your family in a few taps. Removing is free — it doesn't depend on your subscription.
Remove a member
- Open Settings → Family Sharing.
- On the My family tab, tap the person.
- Tap the trash icon in the top corner.
- Confirm at "Remove family member?" — "This will remove {name} from your family." — by tapping Remove.
You'll see "Family member removed" and they disappear from the list.
Please note: Only the family owner can remove anyone, and you can't remove yourself — you'll see "You can't remove the family owner".
What happens to them
- They get a push notification: "{Your name} removed you from their family".
- They immediately lose access to every pet shared in your family.
- They're taken out of any vet or AI chats that were open for those pets.
- Anything they had shared into your family stops being shared and goes back to them.
Tip: If they still see one of your pets on their device shortly afterwards, it's just a leftover screen — access is already revoked, and it clears once their app refreshes. If they tap into it they'll see "You no longer have access to this pet."
Removing someone who hasn't joined yet
For a person whose invitation is still pending, the same trash icon cancels the invitation instead. You'll be asked "Cancel invitation?" — "This will cancel the pending family invitation." — and after tapping Cancel invitation you'll see "Invitation cancelled". Their code stops working right away.
Adding them back
There's no undo, but re-adding is easy: invite the same email address again. They'll get a new code and rejoin with all five permissions on by default. Sending a new invitation does need an active paid plan.
