A common mix-up: the time windows you see in the app are about how much is shown on screen, not how much is stored. Here's the difference.
What the windows in the app mean
| Where | Window |
|---|---|
| The LOCATION HISTORY feed in the map drawer | A rolling 7-day view — a quick recap of the last week |
| The Timeline on the Locations screen | No fixed window. Keep scrolling and it pages back through everything that's been recorded |
| The heatmap | One period at a time, and a custom range can span at most 31 days. That's a limit on how much can be drawn at once, not on how far back you can look — move the range back to see older periods |
Is anything deleted automatically?
The windows above are display limits — how much is drawn on screen at once — not deletion.
Important: [CONFIRM: the official retention policy for location history — how long it is kept and whether it is ever deleted automatically]
What happens when you disconnect a tracker
Disconnecting a tracker keeps your pet's location record, so you don't lose their story when you swap collars.
| Item | What happens |
|---|---|
| Location history | Kept |
| Trips and completed LIVE Tracking sessions | Kept |
| Walks | Kept |
| Timeline entries | Kept |
| Health entries | Kept |
| That tracker's virtual fences (safe zones and no-go zones) | Removed with the tracker |
| Its power-saving zones | Removed with the tracker |
| Its barking settings and status | Removed with the tracker |
Pair a new tracker to the same pet and their history carries on where it left off.
What happens if you delete your account
Deleting your Ask A Vet account removes everything — location history, walks, LIVE Tracking sessions, timeline entries and health entries. This can't be undone. Account deletion is covered in the Account section of this help center.
Can I download or export the history?
