If your pet has gone missing, the fastest way to get help is to send someone their last known location. Ask A Vet can do that in two taps — or open directions straight to them.
Share your pet's last location
- Open your pet's profile and tap GPS Tracker.
- Tap the floating share button on the map. The Share Location sheet opens — "Choose how to share your pet's location".
- Tap Share Last Location ("Send your pet's last recorded position.").
- Pick an app or contact from your phone's normal share sheet.
The message is sent in this form: "{Pet}'s last known location as of Aug 3, 4:12 PM: {Google Maps link}"
Please note: the time is included on purpose, so whoever receives it knows how fresh the position is. Sharing sends a snapshot, not a live feed — the link won't update as your pet moves.
Get directions to your pet
From the same sheet, tap Open in Maps ("Get directions to their last location."). It builds a Google Maps route from where you are now to your pet's last position, opening the Google Maps app if you have it and your browser if you don't.
If you see "No recorded location to share yet."
That means the tracker hasn't reported a position at all yet, so there's nothing to send. You'll normally also see the Waiting for tracker location banner on the map. Give the tracker a few minutes outdoors, or tap + → Refresh.
Share a whole route
If you want to show someone where your pet has been rather than just where they are:
- Open your pet's Locations screen.
- Tap a trip or walk on the Timeline tab.
- Tap Share route.
The message summarises the trip — "{Pet}'s live tracking — {date}, {X} km in {duration}, {start} to {end}" — with a Google Maps link that follows the recorded route.
Sharing with people who need ongoing access
For someone who needs to see your pet's location continuously — a partner, a house-sitter, a family member — use Family Sharing instead, so they get the live map rather than a one-off snapshot.
