LIVE Tracking is the mode you turn on when you need to see your pet moving in real time — following them across a field, or catching up with them after an escape. This article explains what it does and what you'll see while it runs.
What it does
In LIVE Tracking the tracker reports continuously instead of at its usual interval. The Tracker status sheet puts it this way:
Live tracking mode — "The tracker is reporting continuously for real-time updates. This is the most precise, and uses the most battery."
Your pet's location refreshes every 2–3 seconds.
Why sessions are time-boxed
Because it's the most battery-hungry mode, LIVE Tracking runs as a timed session rather than staying on indefinitely. You choose the length — 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes — and 5 minutes is the recommended default. When the timer runs out, the session ends on its own and the tracker returns to its usual mode.

What you'll see while it runs
- A countdown in the work-mode chip on the map, showing the time left in the session.
- A blue trail drawn behind your pet as they move.
- Rotating marker labels: Here for, Speed, Heading and Altitude (the last three only while your pet is moving at 1 km/h or more).
- The Walk and Radar buttons in the map drawer collapse and stop responding until the session ends.
LIVE Tracking and Walks can't run together
They're mutually exclusive. Stop one before you start the other.

If your tracker has no mobile signal
You can still start LIVE Tracking as long as your pet is within Bluetooth range of your phone. The session runs from your phone's own location and is live from the very first moment — there's no "Contacting tracker…" wait.
Please note: while a Bluetooth-carried session runs, Android shows a persistent notification titled Live tracking {pet name} with the body "Live tracking in progress". On iPhone no such ongoing notification is shown.
Afterwards
Completed sessions are saved as trips in your pet's Location history, with the full route, a replay scrubber, and Duration, Distance and Avg speed. A session that never managed to record a single position isn't kept.
