Attach a photo of a vaccination card to a calendar event and it doesn't only live on that event — Ask A Vet files a copy into your pet's Documents library too, so it's there when you need it at the clinic.
What gets created
When you attach a file to a calendar event, a matching document appears in that pet's library. The app fills in the details for you:
- The folder comes from the event type (see the table below).
- The title is "Event type — YYYY-MM-DD", using the event's date.
- It's marked as automatically categorised, so it's clear you didn't file it by hand.
Which folder each event type goes to
| Event type | Documents folder |
|---|---|
| Vaccination, Worm Treatment, Flea Treatment, Tick Treatment | Vaccinations |
| Buy Medicine, Give Medicine | Prescriptions |
| Buy Food, Give Food, Food Trial, Allergy Diary, Food Diary, Feaces Diary | Other |
Tip: If a document would sit better somewhere else, open it and tap … → Edit document to change its Category. Doing that also tells the app to stop re-filing it automatically.
The Source link
A document created this way shows a Source section on its detail screen, with a tappable link reading "Event type on date". Tap it to jump to the Calendar with that event highlighted.
If you later cancel the event, the section reads "Original calendar event was deleted" instead.
Removing one
Remove the file from the calendar event and the matching document is taken out of the library at the same time. That's the only way to remove it — deleting it from the library directly won't work.
Good to know
Please note: Only the original event mirrors its files. A repeating event's 30 generated occurrences don't create duplicate documents.
- Creating a calendar event needs an active Premium plan in the first place, so this normally only comes up on a Premium account. [CONFIRM: whether the copy into Documents is itself plan-gated — the hint under Files offers it as an upgrade, but no plan check was found on the copying itself]
- Files attached with an older version of the Ask A Vet app aren't copied across. If an old event's attachment is missing from Documents, remove it from the event and attach it again.
- The document is filed under the pet named on the event. Pet Name is a required field, so there's always one.
- Documents created this way can be analysed like any other — open the document and tap Analyze with AI.
