Every pet in the Ask A Vet app has its own Documents library — one place for vaccination certificates, lab results, invoices, insurance papers and anything else you'd otherwise be digging out of a drawer at the vet's. Here's what it holds and how it's organised.
Where to find it
- Open your pet's profile.
- Go to the Details tab.
- Tap the Documents row.
The Documents screen opens as a grid of folders, each showing a live count next to its name — for example Vaccinations (3).
The 13 categories
Documents are filed into 13 fixed folders, in this order:
- Passport
- Certificates
- Vet visits
- Invoices
- Vaccinations
- Lab tests
- Pedigree
- Prescriptions
- Insurance
- Other
- Images
- Audio
- Videos
Tap a folder to see what's inside. Documents are listed newest first, and each row shows the title with Issued: and Expires: underneath.
Please note: If you didn't set a date when saving, the row reads "Issued: No" or "Expires: No". That simply means no date was entered — nothing is wrong with the file.
An empty folder shows "No documents here yet" — "Save vaccinations, certificates, lab tests, and other records here so they're always with your pet."
What each document holds
- A Document title (up to 200 characters)
- Its category — the folder it lives in
- An optional Issued date and Expiry date
- A Visible to vets setting, on by default
- The file itself
Five ways documents get here
- You upload them from the Documents screen.
- Files you send in AI Vet Chat are filed automatically.
- Files you send in Certified Vet Chat are filed automatically.
- Telehealth appointment recordings are saved into the Videos folder.
- Files you attach to a calendar event are mirrored into the matching folder.

Where Premium is needed, it has to be active on the pet owner's account.
If a pet is shared with you through Family Sharing, what matters is the owner's plan — if they're on Premium, you can use the library on that pet even if you're on a free plan yourself. You'll also need the family edit permission to make changes.
Tip: There's no cap on how many documents a pet can have and no storage quota. The only limit is 100 MB per file.
