Both Walk and LIVE sit in the same action row on the GPS Tracker screen, and they do related but different jobs. Here's how to pick the right one.
At a glance
| Walk | LIVE | |
|---|---|---|
| What records the route | Your phone | Your pet's tracker |
| What it's for | Recording a walk you're on together | Following your pet when they're away from you |
| Needs Bluetooth | Yes — the collar must stay in range | No |
| Saved as | A walk, with distance, time and average speed | A live tracking session |
Use Walk when you're out with your pet. Use LIVE when you need to watch where your pet is going without you.
They can't run at the same time
Walks and live tracking are mutually exclusive, in both directions:
- Starting a walk while live tracking is running will stop live tracking. The confirmation message warns you before it happens.
- Starting live tracking during a walk fails with the message "A walk is in progress for this tracker."
- The LIVE button is disabled for as long as a walk is active.
- The Walk button is disabled while live tracking is running.
To switch from one to the other, end the one you're in first.
Where your pet's pin comes from during a walk
While a walk is recording, your pet's map pin follows your phone, and reports from the collar are set aside. That keeps the pin from jumping between two sources.
Once the walk stops sending points, the collar takes over again automatically after about 5 minutes.
Where each one shows up afterwards
- Walks appear in the Walk history section of the walk sheet, and as a card titled Walk on your pet's Timeline.
- Live tracking sessions appear as trips.
Walk data is deliberately kept out of the trips and stays feed, so a walk is never double-counted as something else.
Tip: If you're not sure which one is running, look at the action row. The Walk button reads Walking… while a walk is in progress.
