Inviting people to your family is only half of it — you also choose which of your pets they can help care for. You can share one pet or several at once.
Before you start
You need an active Tracker Plan or Premium subscription to share a pet.
Share a pet
- Open Settings → Family Sharing.
- Go to the Shared pets tab.
- Tap Share a pet.
- On the Share a pet screen, tap each pet you want to share — you can pick more than one.
- Tap Share (n).
You'll see "Pet shared with your family 🎉", or "{n} pets shared with your family 🎉" if you picked several.
Please note: Sharing is started from the Family screens. There's no share option on the pet's own profile at the moment.
What the picker shows
The list only contains pets you own that aren't already shared. If everything is shared already you'll see "All your pets are already shared" and there's nothing more to do.
Before you share anything, the Shared pets tab reads "No shared pets yet — Share a pet so your family can help care for them." Once you've shared, it shows the banner "Shared with your family — These are the pets you're sharing with your family. Members in My family can view and help care for them."
Important: A pet can only be shared into one family at a time. If you try to share a pet that's already shared, you'll see "This pet is already shared with your family".
Where the pet appears for your family
Shared pets show up in each member's ordinary pet list, exactly like their own pets, and again under Pets you can access when they open your family from their Joined families tab.
What they can actually do with the pet depends on the permissions you've given them — see the permissions article below.
Tip: Open a shared pet from the Shared pets tab to see the Who can access list. As it notes there, "Access is managed per family member under My family."
