Want to point your vet back to a photo from earlier, or fix a typo you only spotted after sending? Every message in a vet chat has its own set of actions. Press and hold to find them.
Open the message menu
Press and hold any message — yours or your vet's. A panel slides up from the bottom with a row of reactions along the top and a list of actions underneath.
Which actions you get depends on the message:

Please note: this menu is a Chat with a Vet feature. In an AI chat, long-press menus, reactions and swipe-to-reply are switched off on purpose.
Reply to a specific message
- Press and hold the message and tap Reply — or simply swipe the message to the right.
- A bar appears above the message box reading Replying to \<name>, with a short preview of what you're quoting and a thumbnail if it was a photo.
- Type your reply and send it as usual.
Your sent reply carries a small caption — "You replied to \<name>" — with a preview of the quoted message sitting just above your bubble, so it's obvious which point you're answering. To back out before sending, tap the × on the Replying to bar.
React to a message
Press and hold the message, then tap one of the reactions in the top row: heart, thumbs up, thumbs down, laughing or wow. The reaction attaches to the message where both you and your vet can see it. Tap the same one again to remove it.
Edit a message you sent
- Press and hold your own message and tap Edit Message.
- The bar above the message box changes to Editing message, and the text becomes editable.
- Send to save your change, or tap the × to cancel and leave the message as it was.
An edited message is labelled Edited underneath. Tap that label to see when it was changed.
Delete a message you sent
- Press and hold your own message and tap Delete Message.
- Confirm on the alert: Delete Message — "Are you sure you want to permanently delete this message?"
- Tap Delete, or Cancel to keep it.
The bubble is replaced by Message deleted in the conversation, and your vet sees that too.
Please note: deleting a message doesn't remove any photo or file it contained from your pet's document library — attachments are saved there separately. [CONFIRM: whether deleting a chat message removes the attachment from the pet's document library]
Copy a message
Press and hold a message that has text and tap Copy Message. The text goes straight to your phone's clipboard, ready to paste wherever you need it.
If an edit or reply won't go through
You'll see Send failed — "Could not send the message. Please try again." Your text is put back so nothing is lost. Check your connection and try once more.
