Short answer: you keep everything you've already had, but you can't start anything new. Here's the detail.
If your Premium plan ends
| What changes | What it means |
|---|---|
| You can't start new vet chats | Chat with a Vet needs an active Premium plan on the pet owner's account. Without one, tapping a vet chat entry point brings up the Upgrade to Premium card instead of the booking flow. |
| Your old chats stay readable | Past conversations, their Chat summary screens and their written summaries all remain available in the Consults tab under Vet Chats. Only starting a new chat is gated. |
| Files stay with your pet | Anything you or your vet sent is saved in that pet's document library and stays there. Documents that came from a chat can't be deleted from the library. |
What happens to unused chats
Unused included vet chats don't roll over into the next billing period. They have no cash value and aren't refundable or transferable.
If you delete a pet or your account
Deleting a pet removes that pet's vet chat records, and deleting your account removes the vet chat records tied to it. This can't be undone, so download or share anything you want to keep first — the Summary tab has Copy and Share buttons for exactly that.
Please note: [CONFIRM: how long vet chat messages and attachments are retained, and whether an owner can request an export or the deletion of an individual chat transcript]
Good to know
Important: vet chats are not emergency services, on any plan. For anything urgent, contact your local vet or animal emergency line directly.
If you're weighing up whether to keep Premium, plan details and billing are covered in the Subscription & Billing section of this help center.
