Three different things happen depending on what changes.

- If your Premium plan ends
- If you delete a pet profile
- If you delete your Ask A Vet account
If your Premium plan ends
You keep your history, but you lose the ability to chat.
- You can still open your past AI chats and read their summaries — reading is not restricted by your plan.
- You can't start a new AI chat, and you can't continue one that was still open. Opening an existing conversation shows the Upgrade to Premium card and takes you back.
- Any chat that was left open will still close by itself after 24 hours of inactivity, as usual.
- Files you already sent stay in your pet's document library.
Resubscribing to Premium restores AI Vet Chat for every pet on your account straight away — there's nothing to re-enable.
Please note: on a shared pet, what matters is the owner's plan. If the pet's owner cancels Premium, family members lose AI Vet Chat for that pet even if they have Premium themselves.
If you delete a pet profile
That pet's AI chat sessions and their summaries are deleted along with the profile. This can't be undone, so if a summary matters to you, open it first and use Copy or Share on the Summary tab to save it elsewhere.
Tip: the same goes for a pet's documents. Copy anything you want to keep before deleting the profile.
If you delete your Ask A Vet account
All of your AI chat sessions and summaries are deleted with the account, across every pet.
Deleting your account is separate from cancelling a subscription — see the Account and the Subscription & Billing sections of this help center for the steps and what each one covers.
What isn't covered here
[CONFIRM: how long AI chat message transcripts themselves are retained, as distinct from the saved session summaries — and whether chat attachments are removed separately from the pet document library.]
