Seeing a message instead of a map on the Clinics screen? Don't worry — this is usually a two-tap fix. The clinic search is centred on your current position, so the screen needs location access before it can show anything.
Jump to:
- "Allow location to view the map"
- "Location access is blocked"
- The map works but no clinics are listed
- If it still doesn't work
"Allow location to view the map"
The full message is "We use your location to show your position on the map near points of interest."
The app asks your phone for permission once when the screen opens.
- Tap Allow on the system prompt.
- If no prompt appears, go back and open Clinics again — the request is made once per visit to the screen.
"Location access is blocked"
The full message is "Please enable location access in your device settings to show your current position on the map."
This means location was previously denied, so your phone won't show the prompt again. Turn it back on manually.
On iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings.
- Tap Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- Make sure Location Services is on.
- Find Ask A Vet in the list and choose While Using the App.
- Reopen the app and go back to Clinics.
On Android
- Open Settings → Apps → Ask A Vet.
- Tap Permissions → Location.
- Choose Allow only while using the app.
- Reopen the app and go back to Clinics.
The map works but no clinics are listed
- Tap a wider Search radius chip. The default is 2km — try 10km, 25km or 50km.
- If the address shown at the top is wrong, your phone hasn't got a good position fix yet. Step outside or near a window and wait a few seconds, then reopen the screen.
If it still doesn't work
