There's nothing to tap — Ask A Vet marks your notifications as read for you. Here's exactly when that happens, and why you won't find a "mark all as read" button.
Step-by-step
- Open the Home tab and tap the bell icon to open Notifications.
- Read whatever you want to read.
- Tap the back arrow to leave the screen.
Everything in the list is marked as read the moment you leave the screen. Next time you open it, the New section will be empty and your alerts will have moved down into Today and Earlier.
Why there's no per-alert control
Marking as read is all-or-nothing by design. There's no way to mark a single alert as read while leaving the rest unread, and no way to mark something back as unread.
Tip: If you want to come back to a particular alert later, note what it was before you leave the screen — it will still be in the list, just no longer highlighted.
Unread alerts are easy to spot
Until they're marked read, alerts sit at the top under New with a tinted background — no matter how old they are. Everything already read is grouped under Today and Earlier.
If they don't clear
If your phone loses connection while you're on the screen, the alerts simply stay under New and will clear on a later visit. Nothing is lost and there's nothing you need to do.
The red dots on the tab bar are separate
| Red dot | What it means |
|---|---|
| On the Consults tab | You have at least one unread chat message |
| On the Calendar tab | You have a pending event for today with a pet attached |
Neither is connected to the Notifications list, and opening the Notifications screen won't clear them — deal with the message or the event instead.
