If more than one person looks after your pet, it helps to know who can record a walk and what everybody else sees while it's happening.
Who can start a walk
Anyone who has permission to view the pet's GPS tracker can start a walk for that pet. That includes the pet owner and any family member who has been given tracker/location access.
Without that permission the app shows:
Tracker access restricted — You don't have permission to view or manage this pet's GPS tracker. Please contact the pet owner for access.
Only the walker controls the walk
Once a walk has started, only the person who started it can pause, resume or finish it. That's true even for the pet owner. Anyone else who tries gets the message "Only the user who started this walk can modify it."
Viewing is open to everyone with tracker access — it's only the controls that are reserved for the walker.
What everyone else sees
If someone else is already walking your pet:
- Opening the walk sheet shows the banner A walk is in progress by {their name}
- Start Walking is not offered while that banner is showing
- If your app hasn't caught up yet and you do tap Start Walking, it stops with "A walk is already in progress for this tracker."
On the map, other family members see the pet moving through the normal position updates, the same way they would at any other time.
Please note: There is no separate live walk feed to other family members' phones. They'll see the pet's position refresh as usual rather than a second-by-second stream.
After the walk
Once the walk is finished, everyone with access to that pet can see it in Walk history and on the pet's Timeline — including the route, duration, distance and average speed.
If a tracker moves to a different pet
Walk history belongs to the tracker and the pet it's currently assigned to. If you later pair that collar to a different pet, the previous pet's walks no longer appear under it.
