Good news first: your family isn't taken apart when a plan ends. Nobody is removed, nothing is un-shared, and nobody has to be re-invited when you come back.
What keeps working
- Everyone already in your family stays in it.
- Every pet you've already shared stays shared.
- Members keep the permissions you gave them.
- You can still remove members, stop sharing a pet, and leave families you joined.
- Everyone can still view the family, its members and its shared pets.
What stops working
Three actions need an active Tracker Plan or Premium:
- Sending a new family invitation
- Sharing another pet
- Adding or updating a family QR tag
Try one and you'll see A paid plan is required — "Family Sharing is available on the Tracker Plan and Premium."
Important: There's one indirect effect worth knowing. The AI Pet Assistant, certified vet chat and pet documents depend on the pet owner's Premium plan. If your Premium ends, those features stop for your family members on your pets as well as for you — even though they're still in your family.
About the vet chat allowance
Certified vet chats started by a family member come out of the pet owner's household allowance of 2 included chats per billing period. So while you're subscribed, your family shares your allowance rather than each having their own.
Coming back
Re-subscribing restores invitations and sharing immediately. There's no re-setup: your members are still there, your pets are still shared, and their permissions are unchanged.
Please note: Nothing about your family is paused, archived or deleted when a plan lapses. If someone has told you your family will be "paused" on cancellation, that isn't how the app behaves.
For billing questions, renewal dates and how to resubscribe, see the Subscription & Billing section of this help center.
