You sent an invitation and they say nothing arrived. Don't worry — the code is almost certainly waiting for them somewhere in the app, and there are four places to look.
Quick checks
1. Is the invitation still pending?
Open Settings → Family Sharing → My family and look under Pending invitations. If their email is there, the invitation was sent and is waiting for them. If it isn't there, it was either never sent or it's already been cancelled — send a new one.
A listed invitation can still have expired. If you're not sure, tap the person and use Re-send invitation — that gives the same code a fresh expiry.
2. The email
Ask them to search their inbox — including spam and promotions — for the subject "{Your name} invited you to their Ask A Vet family". It goes to the exact address you typed, so double-check that address in the pending list.
3. The push notification
They'll only get it if they're signed in to the Ask A Vet app and have notifications turned on. On Android it arrives on the Family Invitations channel — if they've muted that channel, nothing shows.
4. Inside their app
This is the one people miss. The invitation is also waiting for them in the app itself:
- Their in-app Notifications list shows an entry with the code.
- While the invitation is pending, the app opens the Join {your first name}'s family prompt on its own when they open or return to it.
Resend it
From My family, tap the pending person and tap Re-send invitation. You'll see "Your invitation has been resent successfully."
Please note: There's a short cooldown — wait about a minute between attempts, or you'll see "Please wait a moment before resending." You can send up to 5 invitations to the same person per day; after that you'll see "You've reached the resend limit for today." and can try again tomorrow.
Tip: Resending keeps the same 6-digit code. That means you can just read the code out to them over the phone, and any older email they still have is still correct.
The simplest workaround
Give them the 6 digits directly and have them enter it by hand:
- Settings → Family Sharing
- Joined families tab
- Join a family
- Type the code, tap Join
