Hazards come and go, so reports are designed to fade out unless people keep confirming them. Here are the timings.

The basic rule
A brand-new report is live for 24 hours.
If nobody confirms it in that time, it drops off the map by itself. This is deliberate — it means a puddle that dried up or a party that ended doesn't stay on the map warning people forever.
Confirmations extend it
Every time someone taps Still here on a report, the clock restarts from that moment.
Once two different people have confirmed a report, it becomes a longer-lived warning: it stays live for 5 days from the most recent confirmation. Each new confirmation pushes that out again.
Tip: If you walk past a hazard that's genuinely still there, tapping Still here takes ten seconds and is what keeps the warning alive for everyone behind you.
"Gone" votes remove it
Two It's gone votes from two different people retire a report immediately. It stops appearing on the map and stops warning anyone, no matter how much time it had left.
A retired report never comes back
Once a report has been retired — by two "gone" votes, or because the reporter removed it — a later Still here vote won't revive it.
Please note: If a hazard you cleared turns out to have come back, report it again as a new report. Don't try to revive the old one.
What happens to an expired or cleared report
Either way it stops appearing on the map and stops triggering alerts. Neither is deleted, so an old notification or an old link still opens it.
A report that was cleared — by two "gone" votes, or by the person who submitted it — shows the line "This danger has been cleared and no longer warns nearby pet owners." instead of the voting question.
A report that simply expired still opens normally and still accepts a vote, so a Still here from someone who has just walked past puts it back on the map.
