Saving a zone in the app is only half the job — it also has to reach your pet's collar. The badge under each zone tells you where it's up to, and a stuck zone almost always sorts itself out.
What the badges mean
| Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Syncing… | The zone has been sent and Ask A Vet is waiting for the tracker to confirm. |
| Deleting… | A delete is in progress and the tracker hasn't confirmed yet. |
| Not on collar (red) | The tracker never confirmed it. Tap the badge to retry. |
| No badge | The zone is on the collar and working. |
Why this happens
The tracker has to be awake and reachable to accept the change. If it doesn't answer within about 3 minutes, Ask A Vet gives up on that attempt and the zone shows Not on collar — usually within a few minutes of the deadline passing, since the check runs on a schedule. That's not the end of the story — Ask A Vet keeps trying on its own.
It usually fixes itself
Roughly once an hour, Ask A Vet automatically re-sends any zone the tracker hasn't confirmed. A collar that was out of coverage picks its zones up on its own once it reconnects — you don't have to do anything.
A delete that times out keeps its Deleting… label because the removal is retried in the background too.
Retry it yourself
- Virtual fences: tap the red Not on collar badge under the zone's name.
- Power-saving zones: open the zone and tap Retry sync.
The app uses Bluetooth when your phone is in range of the tracker (fastest), and the mobile network otherwise. On success you'll see "Fence synced to the collar."
Tip: standing near your pet with Bluetooth on is the quickest way to push a stuck zone through.
Messages that need a change, not a retry
- "The collar rejected this fence." / "The collar rejected this fence. Check the fence and try again in Bluetooth range." — the collar itself refused the zone. Open it, check the details, and save again while you're in Bluetooth range.
- "We couldn't sync your safe zone with the tracker. Please try again in a moment." — this also appears if the tracker later reports settings that no longer match what's in the app. Open the zone, check the details, and save again.
- "We couldn't apply this power-saving zone to your tracker." — retry the sync from the zone's detail screen.
- "Could not save this safe zone to the GPS Tracker. Please try again in a moment."
Please note: everyone with access to the pet sees the same sync result at the same time, so a family member who made the change gets the outcome too — not just the tracker's owner.
