If your pet's pin has been parked in the same spot all afternoon while they're at home, that's the Power Saving Zone doing its job — not a fault. Here's what's happening, what changes on screen while it lasts, and how to make the pin land in the right place.

This is on purpose
Inside a power-saving zone the tracker rests on the trusted Wi-Fi network you set up, and GPS is paused on purpose to save battery. Because there's no live fix to show, the app pins your pet at the zone's saved spot. The app says so plainly in the tracker status sheet:
"{Pet} is in a Power Saving Zone — GPS is paused on purpose to save battery. … Tracking resumes automatically when {pet} leaves the zone."
What changes on screen
While the zone is active, the app hides the things that would otherwise look like a fault:
- the usual weak-GPS chip,
- the accuracy circle, and
- the stale-location warnings.
There's nothing wrong to warn you about. Instead your pet's marker shows a Power saving · {WiFi name} label.
Where the pin comes from instead
While your pet is in a power-saving zone, Ask A Vet shows the zone's location:
- The location you pinned for that zone, if you've set one — this always wins.
- An automatic snapshot of your pet's last position recorded while they were in the zone, if no pin is set.
- If neither exists, no zone location is shown.
Please note: the automatic snapshot is only taken from a location fix less than 2 minutes old, recorded while the tracker is reporting that zone — so a stale position never gets stored as the zone's spot. If there's no snapshot, pin the location yourself.
Fix a pin that's in the wrong place
- Open your pet's profile → GPS tracker settings → Power saving zones.
- Tap the zone.
- Tap Adjust location (or Set location if it says No location set yet).
- Move the pin to the right spot.
- Tap Use this location. You'll see "Zone location updated."
You may also see a nudge on the map itself: Pin your power-saving zone — "Set where {zone} is so the map shows the right spot." Tapping it opens that zone's details.
What still overrides the zone location
- A fresh GPS, WiFi or phone-based fix always wins over the zone pin.
- LIVE tracking always wins — the zone pin is never used during a LIVE session.
If you start LIVE tracking while your pet is in the zone and the tracker stays quiet, you'll see: "In a power-saving zone — Tracker is in a power-saving zone — it will respond when your pet leaves the zone."
When does normal tracking come back?
Automatically, as soon as your pet leaves the zone. You don't need to switch anything off.
