Seeing GPS signal lost on the map is far more common than you'd think, and it usually clears itself within a few minutes. Here's what it means and how to help it along.
What the banner says
"Your tracker has temporarily lost its GPS signal. The last known location is shown and will update automatically once GPS is available again."
The banner is purely informational — there's nothing to tap. Your pet's last known position stays on the map, and it refreshes on its own the moment the tracker gets a fix.
Why this happens
The tracker needs a clear view of the sky to hear the satellites. It loses that view when your pet is:
- indoors, in a garage, shed or car
- under dense tree cover
- between tall buildings
- in a bag, under a blanket, or otherwise shielded
The Tracker status sheet describes the state like this:
No signal — "The tracker can't get a GPS fix right now — common indoors. It keeps trying and locks on again under open sky."
What to check first
- Read the GPS chip. No signal means no GPS fix at all. Approximate means the app is falling back on an estimate from nearby masts or Wi-Fi. Proximity means the position is coming from your phone's Bluetooth link — which is perfectly accurate, no GPS needed.
- Is your pet in a Power Saving Zone? Then you won't see this banner at all — GPS is switched off in a zone on purpose.
What to do
- Wait a few minutes. The tracker keeps trying by itself and usually locks on again quickly once it can see open sky.
- Get your pet outdoors if they're inside — a garden or open street is normally enough.
- Start a short LIVE Tracking session. As the Tracker status sheet suggests: "Starting a LIVE session can help the tracker re-acquire a location faster."
- Ask for a fresh report. Tap + on the map and choose Refresh.
Please note: losing GPS is not the same as being offline. If the tracker still has mobile signal it's still in touch — it just can't pin down exactly where it is. If you see Tracker offline or Tracker disconnected instead, that's a different problem.
If it still doesn't work
If the tracker sits on No signal for hours at a time even outdoors in open ground, get in touch with support [CONFIRM: support contact channel and address].
