During a LIVE Tracking session a blue line follows your pet across the map. That's the live trail — the route they've covered since the session started.
What goes into it
The trail is drawn only from your tracker's own GPS positions. Positions that come from your phone, from Wi-Fi, or from nearby mobile masts are deliberately left out, so your own walk to the park never gets drawn as your pet's route.
The one exception is a session started over Bluetooth when the tracker has no mobile signal — in that case the trail follows the positions your phone is relaying, because that's the only real signal available.
When the trail appears
The line — and the Left N min ago label — only show up once your pet has moved more than 30 m from where the session started. Until then there's nothing meaningful to draw.
If your pet settles down, the marker switches to Here for once two minutes pass with no new trail point.
Why the line looks smoothed
- Points closer than 8 m to the previous one are skipped, so a pet pottering around one spot doesn't scribble on the map.
- Positions that arrive out of order are ignored.
The result is a clean route rather than a cloud of dots.
Does the trail survive leaving the screen?
Yes. The trail is saved on your phone, so you can leave the map, take a call, or close the app entirely and come back to find it still there. It's checked against the server once each time you open the app so nothing goes missing.
Please note: the trail keeps up to 500 points on your phone, and up to 1,000 points can be fetched back from the server for an active session. Very long sessions show the most recent stretch of the route.
After the session
Once a LIVE session finishes, the same route is saved as a trip in your pet's Location history — with a replay scrubber, the stops your pet made along the way, and Duration, Distance and Avg speed. You can open it any time.
