Starting LIVE Tracking takes one tap. This article walks through the button, what each of its labels means, and how stopping works.
Before you start
- Stop any walk in progress. LIVE Tracking and Walk can't run at the same time; you'll get "A walk is in progress for this tracker." if a walk is still recording.
- Check the battery. LIVE Tracking won't start while the tracker's battery is low.
- You can start it from Bluetooth range even if the tracker has no mobile signal.
Start a session
- Open your pet's profile and tap GPS Tracker to open the map.
- In the drawer at the bottom, tap the blue Live button.
- You'll see the toast "Live tracking is now active đź“Ť You'll start seeing your pet's location updates shortly."
- The chip at the top of the map narrates what the tracker is doing while it wakes up — Contacting tracker…, Waiting for network…, Searching for GPS… — then switches to a countdown once the session is running.
Please note: the tracker usually answers a start request within about one to two minutes. The app shows Starting live tracking… for up to three minutes before it stops waiting on screen and keeps retrying quietly in the background.
What the button says

Stop a session
- Tap Stop Live tracking.
- The button holds a Stopping… state until the session is fully closed and the tracker has confirmed it left live mode. This normally takes a few seconds, and the button releases after 20 seconds at the latest.
- You'll see "Live tracking has been turned off."
You don't have to stop a session manually — it ends by itself when the timer you chose runs out.
Tip: the Walk and Radar buttons in the drawer are unavailable while LIVE Tracking is on. They come back as soon as the session ends.
