You can cancel your subscription yourself from inside the app, and you keep everything you've paid for until the end of the period. Nothing changes on the day you cancel.
How to cancel
- Open Settings.
- Tap Subscriptions to open Your Plan.
- Tap Manage plan.
- At the bottom, tap Cancel subscription.
- Read the Cancel subscription? dialog: "You'll keep access until {date}. After that, you'll go back to the Free plan."
- Tap Yes, cancel to confirm, or Keep my subscription to stay.
You'll see the confirmation "Subscription cancellation scheduled", and the Manage subscription screen changes to show "Your plan ends on {date}." instead of your renewal date.
You'll also get an email: "Your Ask A Vet subscription is cancelled" — "Your {plan} is scheduled to end on {date}. You'll keep full access until then — nothing changes today."
Please note: Cancelling is always scheduled for the end of your paid period. It's never immediate, and it doesn't cut off your access early.
Changed your mind?
Any time before the end date, the bottom button becomes Resume subscription. See "How to resume a subscription you've cancelled".
If you tap cancel twice
You'll see "Already scheduled to cancel on {date}". That's just confirmation that your first cancellation went through — there's nothing more to do.
If you're on the Free Plan
There's nothing to cancel. The Manage subscription screen shows a View subscription plans button instead of a cancel option.
Refunds
A normal cancellation doesn't involve a refund, because nothing is taken away: you keep full access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and billing simply stops there.
The one case where a refund happens automatically is deleting your account: that cancels your subscription immediately and refunds the unused portion of your current billing period — see "Does deleting my account cancel my subscription?" in the Account & Profile section. For anything else, contact support@askavet.com.
Cancelling vs deleting your account
Deleting your Ask A Vet account is not the same as cancelling your subscription. Deletion does end billing too — your subscription is cancelled immediately and the unused part of the current period is refunded — but it also permanently removes your pets and everything recorded about them.
Important: If you just want to stop paying, cancel your subscription instead of deleting your account. Cancelling keeps your account, pets and history, and you keep access until the end of your paid period.
