You tapped an old conversation and got a screen saying it isn't available any more. Don't worry — this only affects that one conversation, and starting a new one takes a couple of taps.
What you're seeing
AI chat no longer available — "This AI consultation isn't accessible anymore. You can start a new one anytime." — with a Back to chats button.
Why this happens
The conversation behind that chat no longer exists, so there are no messages left to show. It usually means the chat is an old one that has since been removed.
Conversations in this state are normally hidden from your AI Chats list automatically, so you'll most often hit this from a stale screen — for example if the app was left open in the background for a long time.
What to do
- Tap Back to chats.
- Pull down on the AI Chats list to refresh it.
- Start a new AI chat for that pet — the floating Ask A Vet button → Chat with AI Vet, or the pet's profile → Consults → Chats with AI Vet.
Tip: if the old conversation had already been ended, its saved summary is kept as a separate record even though the conversation itself is gone. Because conversations in this state are hidden from the list, contact support if you need that summary back.
It won't block a new chat
The one-open-chat-per-pet rule doesn't trap you here. If an open chat's conversation no longer exists, it's cleared automatically the next time you start a chat for that pet, so you won't be stuck on Open chat already exists.
If the whole list looks wrong
Seeing "Something went wrong" — "Couldn't load chats. Pull down to refresh." — means the list itself failed to load rather than an individual chat being gone. Pull down to refresh, check your connection, and close and reopen the app if it persists.
If it still doesn't work
If conversations keep disappearing, or a chat you know you ended can't be found at all, contact the Ask A Vet support team with the pet's name and roughly when the chat took place [CONFIRM: support contact channel — email address and/or in-app support route].
