Vital information is the short list of things anyone caring for your pet should know straight away — what they're allergic to, any medical alerts, what medication they're on and what they eat. You can also choose to show it to whoever scans your pet's QR tag.
Where to find it
Today the way in is through your pet's QR tag settings:
- Open your pet's QR Tags settings.
- Switch on the Vital information toggle.
- If all four fields are still empty, a message appears titled Add vital information: "To show your pet's vital information on this QR tag, add at least one detail — allergies, medical alerts, medications, or food — first. You can skip for now and turn this on later."
- Tap Add vital information to open the screen. (Tapping Skip for now closes the message and leaves the toggle off.)
Please note: the Health row on your pet's Health tab currently shows a "Coming soon" message rather than opening this screen. Use the QR tag route above in the meantime.
Step-by-step
On the Vital information screen you'll find four free-text fields:
- Allergies
- Medical alerts
- Medications
- Food
- Type whatever is useful into any of the four fields.
- Tap Save changes. The button stays greyed out until you actually change something.
Tip: keep each entry under 2,000 characters. Longer entries won't save and you'll only see a general update error.
The screen reloads the latest saved values every time you open it, so what you see is always current.
Clear a field
To remove something, delete the text so the field is empty and tap Save changes. The stored value is cleared.
Who can see it
Vital information is private by default. It only appears on the public page someone sees after scanning your pet's QR tag when both of these are true:
- That tag's Vital information toggle is switched on, and
- At least one of the four fields has something in it
If either isn't true, the section simply doesn't appear on the scan page. You'll find more about tag toggles in the QR Tags section of this help center.
