Pets grow, weights change and microchip numbers get added later. You can update your pet's details at any time from their profile hub — here's how.
Step-by-step
- Go to Home and open the List tab.
- Tap the ⋮ icon on your pet's card.
- Tap Edit profile. This opens your pet's profile hub.
- Tap the section you want to change (see below).
- Update that section's fields, then tap Save.
Saving takes you back to the hub with a confirmation that the section was updated. Each section is saved on its own, so you don't need to work through every section in one visit.
What's on the hub
At the top of the hub is your pet's photo — tap it for Take a photo, Choose from library or Remove photo. Below that are five sections, and tapping one opens just that section, pre-filled:
| Section | What's inside |
|---|---|
| Name | Your pet's name |
| Species & breed | Species, and breed (Purebred or Mixed breed) |
| Health details | Sex, Desexed status, Microchip number |
| Age, weight & coat colour | Birthday, Weight (with its unit), Coat colour |
| Profile colour | The 30-swatch profile colour picker |
What to expect
- Names are tidied up automatically. The first letter is capitalised and the rest is lowercased, so "MAX" is saved as "Max" and "JoJo" is saved as "Jojo".
- Changing the Species clears the Breed. Both lists are species-specific, so if you change species in the Species & breed section, you'll need to pick the breed again.
- Your pet's GPS tracker updates itself. If this pet has a tracker connected, the app re-sends the updated details to it in the background. You don't need to do anything, and it never blocks the save.
Details that live elsewhere
Not everything about your pet is on the hub:
| Detail | Where to enter it |
|---|---|
| Height and Body Length | During GPS tracker setup, not on the profile hub |
| Vital information (allergies, medical alerts, medications and food) | Its own screen, reached from your pet's QR tag settings |
Both have their own articles below.
Editing a pet shared with you
Family members can only edit a shared pet if the pet's owner has given them permission. Without it, tapping Save on any section shows a message titled "Edit access restricted" instead of saving. See the troubleshooting article below.
If the save fails
If something goes wrong you'll see "We couldn't update your pet's profile. Please try again." and your changes are rolled back. Check your internet connection and try again. If it keeps failing, contact Ask A Vet support [CONFIRM: support contact channel or link].
