Calendar events — feeding, medicine, worming, vaccinations — can remind you before they're due. Here's how to set the reminder and what to expect when it arrives.
Choosing when you're reminded
When you create or edit an event, pick one of these:
- Never
- At start
- 15 minutes before
- 30 minutes before
- 1 hour before
- 1 day before
Choose Never for events you don't want to be notified about.
When it fires
Reminders are checked every minute, so they arrive on time. They're calculated in your own phone's time zone and handle daylight-saving changes correctly, so a reminder set for 8 am stays at 8 am.
Please note: Your time zone comes from the phone you're logged in on. If you travel, reminders follow the phone.
What the reminder looks like
The notification is the reminder sentence itself — for example "Time to feed Bella.", "Time to give Bella their medicine." or "Bella's vaccination is due today." — with Tap to open the calendar event. underneath. If the event has files attached, the number of attachments is added on the end.
| When it arrives | What happens |
|---|---|
| App closed | Tapping the notification opens the Calendar at that event. If the event has files attached, it opens that pet's documents instead, where the files are. |
| App open | The reminder appears as a card in the middle of the screen instead of a banner. |
One reminder per event
You'll only get one reminder for a given event within any 24-hour period, so a reminder can't repeat at you through the day.
Shared pets
Family members also get reminders for a shared pet's events — but only those who have the Calendar permission ("View & receive notifications for shared-pet events"). Members without it get nothing, even if they can see the pet.
Where they show up afterwards
Calendar reminders are one of the alert types that appear in the in-app Notifications list, listed as Reminder. On Android they arrive under the General notification category, not a calendar-specific one — worth knowing if you're switching categories on and off.
