You tapped a tracker alarm or a firmware notification and got a small message reading "Tracker no longer connected" — "This alert came from a tracker that is no longer paired with this pet." Nothing has gone wrong with your account, and this is easy to explain.
Why this happens
Before it opens a pet's GPS tracker screen, Ask A Vet checks which tracker is paired with that pet right now rather than trusting the alert, which may be days or weeks old. If the tracker that produced the alert isn't the pet's tracker any more, there's no tracker screen to open — so you get the message instead.
The usual causes are:
- The tracker was unpaired or removed from that pet.
- The tracker was moved to a different pet.
- The pet no longer has a tracker at all.
What to do
| Your situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| The pet should have a tracker | Open the pet's profile and pair the tracker again. Once it's paired, new alerts will open the tracker screen normally. |
| The pet doesn't have one any more | Nothing to do. The alert is simply a piece of history and can be ignored. |
| The tracker moved to another pet | Open that pet's profile to see the tracker's current status. |
Please note: The alert stays in your Notifications list — nothing is deleted. You just can't jump to a tracker screen from it.
If it still doesn't work
If the tracker is paired with that pet and you still get this message, close and reopen the app so it can refresh, then tap the alert again. If it keeps happening, send us a support request from Settings → Help and mention which pet and which alert.
