On Android you get finer control than on iPhone: Ask A Vet splits its alerts into seven separate categories you can switch on and off individually. Here's how to enable notifications and choose what you receive.
Before you start
Ask A Vet only asks for permission after you've logged in. On Android 13 and newer you'll see the standard "Allow Ask A Vet to send you notifications" dialog — tap Allow.
If you already tapped "Don't allow"
The app won't ask again, so switch it on from your phone's settings.
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- Go to Apps and tap Ask A Vet.
- Tap Notifications.
- Turn notifications on for the app.
- Reopen Ask A Vet so your phone is registered for alerts.
The seven notification categories
On the same Notifications screen you'll find each category with its own switch.

You can change any of these from your phone's settings if you'd like a category to be louder or quieter.
Please note: Calendar event reminders and subscription alerts arrive under General, not under their own category. If you switch General off you'll stop getting those, and chat messages, too.
What switching a category off does
Switching a category off only stops the pop-up on your phone. Tracker alarms, hazard alerts, QR tag scans, firmware updates, family invitations and calendar reminders are still recorded and still appear on the in-app Notifications screen.
Tip: Chat messages, consultation alerts and subscription alerts aren't listed on that screen, so muting their category means you won't see them at all.
