Short answers to the questions we're asked most often about Family Sharing.
Members and families
Can I be in more than one family? Yes. You can own your own family and be a member of any number of other families at the same time. Being in someone else's family never stops you being invited to another.
How many people can I invite? The Tracker Plan and Premium include unlimited family members. [CONFIRM: confirm the live plan catalogue grants unlimited family members and unlimited shared pets]
Can a family member invite other people? No. Only the family owner can send invitations, remove members and change permissions.
Does the person I invite need a subscription? No. Your plan covers the family — they can be on a free account.
Do they need an account, though? Yes. They must already have an Ask A Vet account, and you invite the exact email address they signed up with.
Can I share with my vet? No. Vet accounts can't be invited as family members.
Pets
How many pets can I share? As many as you like on a paid plan — but each pet can only be shared into one family at a time.
Where do shared pets appear for my family? In their ordinary pet list, exactly like their own pets, and again under Pets you can access when they open your family from their Joined families tab.
Can a family member share their own pet? The Shared pets tab is where you share your own pets with your own family. What a member shares from their account goes into their family.
Can I give one person access to one pet only? Not at the moment — permissions are set per person and apply to every pet in that family.
The app
Is Family Sharing on the vet app or on the web? No — it's in the pet-owner app only.
Does it need any device permissions? Only notifications, so you get invitation and family update alerts. Family Sharing itself doesn't use Bluetooth, location, the camera or your photos.
The Family screen won't load. You'll see "We couldn't load your family" — "Pull to refresh or try again to load your members and joined families." Pull down on the screen or tap Try again; it's usually a brief connection problem.
