As the family owner you can turn each member's access on or off whenever you like, and the change takes effect straight away. Here's where to do it.
Change a member's permissions
- Open Settings → Family Sharing.
- On the My family tab, tap the person you want to change.
- Tap Permissions — Manage access.
- Switch any of the five rows on or off: Edit Pet Information, Location Tracking, Vet Consultation, Vet Call Bookings, Calendar.
There's no Save button — each switch saves the moment you tap it. If a save doesn't go through, the switch flips back and the app tells you it couldn't be updated; check your connection and try again.
Please note: Only the family owner can change permissions. Other members can open the screen but the switches are read-only.
Things worth knowing
- Your own row is fixed. As the family owner your permissions are always on and can't be changed.
- Permissions apply to every pet in the family, not to one pet at a time.
- You can't set permissions for someone who hasn't accepted yet. A pending invitee shows as "Family member (Invitation sent)" and the Permissions row only appears once they join.
Important: Turning Vet Consultation off also removes that member from any vet or AI chats that are already open for your family's pets. Those conversations disappear from their app, so switch it off only when you mean to.
What the member sees afterwards
If they try something you've switched off, they get a message such as Tracker access restricted or Calendar access restricted, each ending "Please contact the pet owner for access." Nothing breaks — they simply can't take that action until you turn it back on.
Turning Location Tracking or Calendar off also stops the matching alerts reaching them: zone and tracker alerts for the first, event reminders for the second.
