You don't have to be watching the map to benefit from it. If your pet walks near a reported hazard, Ask A Vet sends you an alert — here's exactly when that happens and what you get.
When an alert is sent

A pet resting next to a hazard doesn't generate a stream of alerts. Once you've been warned about a hazard, that's it for that visit — so a repeat alert always means a genuine return.
Important: Hazard alerts are based on your pet's tracker position, never on your phone's location. Positions recorded during a walk count too, because they come from the same tracker.
Who gets the alert
- The tracker's owner
- The pet's owner
- Every active family member of that pet's family who has permission to track its location
What the alert says
The title is "Hazard reported near {your pet's name}" — or "Hazards reported near {your pet's name}" if there's more than one.
The message is "{Hazard} located {n} m away at {address}." If we couldn't work out a street address for the hazard, it reads "{Hazard} located {n} m away from your pet's location." instead.
What happens when you tap it
Tapping the alert opens a full-screen page with the hazard type, distance and address, and a View danger button. View danger takes you to the GPS Tracker map with the hazard's sheet already open, so you can read the description, see the photos and vote on whether it's still there.
The same alert also lands in your in-app notifications list with a red warning-triangle icon. Tapping that row opens the same hazard sheet.
Please note: On Android, hazard alerts arrive on the same notification channel as your other tracker alarms, with a red accent.
When no alert is sent
- If the hazard was cleared or expired between your pet passing it and the alert going out, nothing is delivered.
- A tracker that isn't linked to a pet produces no hazard alerts at all.
- Turning the Danger reports switch off in Map settings hides the pins, but it does not stop the alerts — you'll still be warned, and tapping the alert still opens the hazard.
- If the pet has no tracker registered, tapping a hazard notification can't open the map.
