Spotted something that could hurt a pet? Reporting it takes about a minute and warns every Ask A Vet owner who walks that way afterwards. Here's the whole flow.
Before you start
Open your pet's GPS Tracker map, tap the + button, and choose Report danger.
Tip: Report danger works even when your tracker is offline or connected only over Bluetooth. Unlike Refresh, it doesn't need to reach the tracker — it only needs your phone's internet connection.
Step-by-step
- Where's the danger? — "This sets the pin other owners will see on the map." Choose one of up to three options: - Your pet's last known tracker position — the card is headed "{your pet's name}'s location" and only appears once the tracker has recorded a position. - My location — "Where you're standing now". - Search a place — "Pick an exact spot on the map". This opens the Select danger location step so you can drop the pin precisely.
- Choose danger category — pick one of the nine categories. Tapping one moves you straight on, so there's no Continue button here. See Danger categories and hazard types explained.
- Select hazard type — pick one or more specific types. You need at least one to continue. Going back and changing the category clears your picks.
- Add details — write a short description ("Briefly describe the danger you saw…"). This is required, and the field takes up to 500 characters. Under Photos you can add up to three pictures from your photo library — "Upload a photo (optional)".
- Review details — check the three rows: Type, Location and Description with your photo thumbnails, plus the pin on the map. When it looks right, tap the red Save and report.
- Reported — you'll see "Thank you for your report" / "Your report has been submitted." Tap Close.
Your pin is live for the community immediately.
Things worth knowing
Please note: Photos come from your photo library — there's no camera step inside the wizard. If you want a fresh picture, take it with your camera app first, then add it here. Only image files are accepted (JPEG, JPG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF and WebP).
- Tapping Cancel at any step throws the whole draft away.
- Once a report has gone through, it can't be posted a second time. Going back from the success screen and tapping Save and report again does nothing.
- If My location is greyed out with "Location access is turned off", allow location access for Ask A Vet in your phone's settings, or use Search a place instead.
- If the submit fails you stay on Review details and see "We couldn't submit your report. Please try again." Your draft is kept, so you can just tap the button again. See My danger report won't submit.
After you report
You can't edit a report once it's in. If you got something wrong, remove it and report again — see How to remove a danger report you submitted.
