Once you've reported your pet as lost, the fastest thing you can do is get their profile link in front of people. Ask A Vet gives you a ready-made link and a ready-made message — here's how to send it.
Check the Report review screen
Straight after you tap Report Now, you land on Report review. This screen shows your pet's public profile page exactly as a finder would see it.
Scroll through it and check it reads the way you want. If something is missing, go back and add it — see How to report your pet as lost.
Please note: Looking at your own pet's page from Report review does not count as a scan. Nothing is added to your scan history and you won't get a scan alert from your own preview.
Share the link
- Tap Share at the bottom of Report review.
- Your phone's share sheet opens with the message already written: "Help me find {your pet's name}! {link}".
- Pick where to send it — messages, email, a neighbourhood group, a social post, whatever reaches the most people nearby.
The link points to your pet's public profile page on askavet.com. Anyone can open it in a normal phone or computer browser — they don't need the Ask A Vet app and they don't need an account.
If you'd rather not send anything right now, tap Continue without sharing to go back to your pets.
Important: Report review is shown only straight after you submit the report. Once your pet is marked as lost, the Safety tab and the … menu both switch to Mark found, so send the link everywhere you can while you're on this screen — and keep a copy of it for later.
If the Share button isn't there
Report review hides the Share button when your pet has no active QR tag, because the link is the tag's page. Only Continue without sharing is shown.
Your pet is still marked as lost, but there's nothing to share until a tag is activated for them. See the QR Tag section of this help center for how to activate one.
What people will actually see
Only the sections you've enabled for that tag appear on the page. These are private by default, so if you've never touched them, a finder may see very little.
Before you share the link, it's worth opening your QR tag's privacy settings and switching on what you want visible — Last located, Vital information, Vet clinic, Family contacts and Additional information are all opt-in. The QR Tag section of this help center walks through it.
