An update never gets in your way. If now isn't a good time, put it off — nothing is cancelled and nothing is lost, and you can start it again whenever suits you.
From the prompt when you open the app
On the "Tracker update available" sheet, tap Later. Swiping the sheet down or tapping outside it does the same thing.
Any of those snoozes that tracker's prompt for 24 hours. The sheet also only appears once per app launch, so it won't keep popping up while you're using the app.
Please note: Tapping Update Now also clears the prompt for 24 hours. It takes you to the Tracker info screen rather than starting the update straight away, so you still choose when to install.
From the update screen
Tap Not now. That simply closes the screen — nothing was started, so nothing is interrupted.
During tracker setup
The setup wizard checks both firmwares after you pair a new tracker:
- On the Module firmware update step you can tap Skip while the check is still running, or Remind me later if an update is waiting but the tracker isn't currently reachable over Bluetooth.
- On the Main firmware update step you can tap Skip for now whenever the tracker is offline — so a tracker that hasn't found mobile signal yet never blocks setup.
Either way, you'll be prompted again later.
Getting the prompt back
You don't have to wait for it:
- Tap the "Firmware update available" banner at the top of the GPS tracker map. It keeps appearing until the update is actually installed, so you can install any time.
- Or go straight to GPS tracker settings → Tracker info → Firmware updates → Update Now.
Tip: If an Ask A Vet app update is also waiting, the app update prompt takes priority and the firmware prompt is held back until the app is up to date.
Can I refuse an update completely?
The prompt is always dismissible — firmware never blocks you from using the app. Bear in mind that updates carry the improvements and fixes listed under WHAT'S NEW on the update screen, so it's worth installing when you get the chance.
