A Power Saving Zone is how you tell your pet's tracker "you're home, you can relax". When the tracker recognises a trusted WiFi network nearby, it switches to power-saving mode to preserve battery.
It's a WiFi name, not an area on the map
This is the part that surprises most people: a power-saving zone is a WiFi network name (SSID) — not a circle you draw. All your tracker does is notice that the network is nearby, which is why you're only ever asked for the network's name — never its password.
While the tracker detects that network it:
- turns GPS off,
- reports less often, and
- tells the app which zone it's in.

Where to find it
Open your pet's profile → GPS tracker settings → Power saving zones ("Lower battery use at home").
You can save up to 5 power-saving zones per tracker. These have their own 5 slots — they don't use up any of your 5 virtual fences.
Please note: the app's own guidance is: "Only create in trusted spaces, like your home. As long as your pet is safe in this zone, LIVE will stay inactive."
What it looks like when it's active
- Your pet's map marker shows a Power saving · {WiFi name} label.
- The tracker status sheet reads: "{Pet} is in a Power Saving Zone — GPS is paused on purpose to save battery." with the explanation "While inside a Power Saving Zone the tracker uses the zone's location instead of running GPS. Tracking resumes automatically when {pet} leaves the zone."
- The app deliberately hides the usual weak-GPS chip, accuracy circle and stale-location warnings — nothing is broken, your pet is resting on purpose.
The map's mode glossary puts it simply: "Power-saving mode — The tracker reports less often to save battery, so location updates are less frequent."
No alerts, no extra permissions
- Power-saving zones never send push notifications. Only safe zones and no-go zones do. They do appear in your pet's Location history, tagged POWER SAVING.
- No new permissions are needed on your phone — the tracker does the WiFi scanning, not your phone.
