A photo makes your pet instantly recognisable across the app — on their card, in consults and on their profile. Adding or swapping one takes a few taps.

Add a photo when creating a pet
- When you reach the Photo step — "Add a photo" — tap Take a photo to use your camera, or Choose from library to pick an existing image.
- Once you've picked or taken one, pan and zoom to crop and centre it in the circular frame.
- Tap Continue. If you'd rather not add one now, tap Skip for now instead — you can always add a photo later from the profile hub.
The photo is uploaded right after your pet's details are saved.
Add, change or remove a photo on an existing pet
- Tap ⋮ > Edit profile on the pet's card. This opens your pet's profile hub.
- Tap the photo at the top of the hub.
- Choose Take a photo, Choose from library, or Remove photo.
Please note: each pet has exactly one photo. Choosing a new one replaces the previous one — there's no photo gallery or multiple images per pet.
Formats, size and quality
The uploader shows the rules right on screen:
| Rule | What's accepted |
|---|---|
| Supported formats | JPEG, PNG or GIF |
| Max size | 10 MB |
Large photos are resized automatically before they're uploaded, so you don't need to shrink them yourself. On iPhone, photos saved in Apple's HEIC format are converted to JPEG for you.
No photo? No problem
A pet without a photo shows an illustration matched to their species — dog, cat, bird, aquatic, ferret, guinea pig, rodent, rabbit, amphibian, or a generic one for anything else — inside a ring in your chosen Pet profile colour. The same illustration appears if a stored photo can't be loaded.
Changing a shared pet's photo
Family members need the pet owner's permission to change or remove the photo of a pet that was shared with them. Without it you'll see the "Edit access restricted" message.
