Your pet's profile is the heart of the Ask A Vet app — almost everything else hangs off it. Consults with vets, calendar reminders, documents, QR tags and a GPS tracker all attach to a specific pet, so creating a profile is the first thing to do after signing in.

Where your pets live
Open the app and you'll land on Home, which has two tabs: List and Map. The List tab shows all of your pets as cards.
If you haven't added anyone yet, you'll see an illustration with the message "No pets added yet" and "Start by adding your first pet to keep everything in one place", plus an Add pet button.
What a pet profile stores
| Detail | Where you enter it |
|---|---|
| Photo (optional) | Add Pet form |
| Pet Name, Species, Breed, Gender, Desexed, Pet colour | Add Pet form |
| Weight and its unit | Add Pet form |
| Birthday | Add Pet form |
| Pet profile colour | Add Pet form |
| Microchip number (optional) | Add Pet form |
| Height and Body Length | GPS tracker setup |
| Vital information (allergies, medical alerts, medications, food) | Your pet's QR tag settings |
Please note: height, body length and vital information are stored on the profile, but they're collected elsewhere in the app rather than on the Add Pet form.
Your pet's card
Each card on the List tab shows the photo, the pet's name and a "Species · Breed" line. Small badges appear on the card to tell you at a glance whether the pet:
- has an active QR tag
- has a connected GPS tracker
- is shared with your family
- is currently reported lost
A Premium badge also appears on your cards while your account is on an active Premium plan.
Tapping the ⋮ icon on a card opens quick actions: Report as lost (or Mark as found), Activate QR tag, Edit profile and Delete profile.
Inside the pet profile
Tapping a pet card opens the Pet Profile screen: a summary card with the photo, name, species and a grid of Date of birth, Gender, Breed, Weight, Height, Body Length, Color and Desexed, plus a MICROCHIP pill (it reads "Not set" if you haven't added a chip number).
Below that are three tabs:
| Tab | What's inside |
|---|---|
| Details | Documents, Calendar, Consults, Training Sounds and Pet Page |
| Health | Health and Activity & stats |
| Safety | Locations, Clinics, QR Tags, GPS Tracker and Lost Mode |
Photos and profile colours
Every pet gets a Pet profile colour from a palette of 30 shades. It's not just decoration — it colours the header of the Pet Profile screen, the ring around your pet's photo everywhere it appears in the app, and the microchip pill.
Tip: no photo yet? Your pet shows a friendly illustration matched to their species inside that coloured ring, so profiles never look empty.
How many pets can I have?
As many as you like — there's no limit on any plan. If you're on Premium, the base price covers two pets and each additional pet you own adds to your bill; the details are in the Subscription & Billing section of this help center.
