New to Ask A Vet? This article explains what the app is, what you get with it, and — just as importantly — what it isn't meant for.
The short version
Ask A Vet is a mobile app that lets you chat with a licensed veterinarian from the comfort of your own home. You can get advice on a range of topics, including nutrition, behaviour and medical conditions, and you can upload photos and videos so the veterinarian can see your pet's condition and advise you accurately.
Around that sits everything else you need to look after an animal, all in one place.
What you get
| Feature | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Your animals, organised | Pet and farm animal profiles, health records, reminders, a calendar and a document library. |
| Veterinary help | AI Vet chat for general pet health information, vet chat with a veterinary professional, and telehealth consultations. |
| GPS tracking | Live tracking, location history and health monitoring with the Ask A Vet GPS tracker. |
| QR and NFC ID tags | A tag on your pet's collar that anyone can scan to reach you. The page a finder sees lives at tag.askavet.com. |
| Community, devices and plans | Community warnings, device integrations and subscription plans that unlock the features above. |
Two apps, two audiences
There are two separate apps. Ask A Vet is the app for pet owners — that's the one this help center covers. Ask A Vet Partners is a separate app used by veterinarians.
Tip: if you're a veterinarian, you'll be logging in with credentials supplied by the Ask A Vet team rather than signing yourself up.

What Ask A Vet is not
Important: Ask A Vet is not an emergency service. Telehealth, vet chat, AI Vet, health tracking, reminders, GPS tracking and app notifications are not emergency services, and they do not replace an in-person veterinary examination, emergency care, diagnostic testing, treatment by a veterinarian, or ongoing care from your regular vet. If your animal is in distress, seek immediate in-person veterinary care.
