Plans and limits
Do I need a paid plan to use a QR tag? No. QR tags are included on every plan, including the free one.
How many tags can I have? You can link more than one tag to the same pet, and each tag keeps its own privacy settings. [CONFIRM: whether there is a maximum number of QR tags per pet or per account]
Can I print my own tag? [CONFIRM: whether owners can generate a printable tag themselves, and where in the app]
Using the tag
Does the person who finds my pet need the app? No — no app and no account. The page opens in any phone browser.
Can I move a tag to another pet? Yes. Delete the tag from your QR tags list, which releases the code, then scan it again and link it to the new pet.
What happens to my tags if I delete a pet? They're released automatically and can be activated again on another pet.
Can a family member manage my tags? A family member with permission to edit the pet can activate a tag and change its privacy settings. Only the pet's owner can delete one.
Can I preview my own tag page? Yes — open your pet's Pet Page screen. Nothing is recorded and no alert is sent.
Privacy
Is my address always visible? No. It only shows if you switch Your address on, and only once your profile has an address saved.
Can I hide my pet's name and photo? No — they're always shown on the finder page.
What can a finder see about me? Only what you've switched on: your phone number, your email address and your address. Your name always appears in the Owner information card.
Can I chat with the person who found my pet? No. The page gives them your phone number, email address and directions to your address, depending on your settings — there's no messaging between you.
Scans and alerts
Do I get an alert every time my tag is scanned? No. Alerts are only sent while your pet is marked as lost. Other scans are still saved to your pet's Locations timeline.
Does a scan update my pet's location? No. Scans appear as sightings on the timeline and never change your pet's map pin or last known position.
What if my tag is scanned over and over? We accept up to 5 scans a minute, counted both per tag and per person scanning. Anything above that is ignored until the minute passes.
Am I emailed about scans? No — scan alerts go to your phone and to the app's Notifications list only.
Can I turn scan alerts off? On Android you can mute the QR Tag Scans notification channel in your phone's system settings. [CONFIRM: whether scan alerts can be switched off inside the app itself]
