If you have an Ask A Vet GPS tracker, you already have a pet ID tag on your pet's collar. The QR code printed on the tracker works exactly like one of our QR tags — anyone who scans it sees your pet's profile and the contact details you've chosen.
How it gets set up
As the release notes put it: "Your Tracker Is Also an ID Tag — The QR code on your tracker now doubles as a pet ID tag. Choose exactly what a finder sees — your phone, email or address, where your pet was last located, your vet clinic or your family contacts."
You don't have to activate anything. As soon as you pair a tracker to a pet, an active QR tag is created for that tracker automatically.
During pairing you'll see a step called Your tracker is also a pet ID tag with the same eight privacy toggles as a normal tag. Choose what a finder can see, then tap Save & Continue — or tap Skip for now and set it up later.

How to change the settings later
- Go to Settings → Manage QR tags (or open the pet's profile and tap QR Tags).
- Find the tag with the GPS Tracker badge and tap it.
- Adjust the toggles — each one saves as soon as you tap it.
What's different about a tracker's tag
- It can't be deleted from the QR tags list. The Delete QR tag option is hidden, and if you try you'll be told: "This tag belongs to your GPS tracker. Remove the tracker from your pet to deactivate it."
- Unpairing turns it off. When you remove the tracker from your pet, its QR tag is deactivated automatically and the page stops working for finders.
- A new owner starts fresh. If the tracker is later paired to a different account, all of the privacy toggles reset to their defaults, so nobody inherits your choices.
Tip: Your tracker's QR tag counts as an active QR tag, so it unlocks the features that need one — like Lost Mode and your pet's shareable Pet Page.
