Short answer: no. A walk you record with your phone is kept separately from your pet's activity goals. Here's why that's deliberate.
Why walks don't feed the goals
Your pet's collar is already measuring your pet during the walk — their own steps, their own distance and their own active minutes. If the walk you recorded on your phone were added on top, the same outing would be counted twice.
So Ask A Vet keeps the two as separate records:
- Walk history is the walk you recorded, measured by your phone's GPS
- Activity & stats is what your pet did, measured by the collar
Both cover the same outing, from two different angles.

Will a walk change my pet's Steps and Distance?
Indirectly, yes — but not because of the walk recording. Your pet is moving, so the collar counts those steps and that distance as it would for any other activity. The walk itself adds nothing extra to those figures.
That's also why walk distance and activity distance for the same outing may not match. They're measured by two different devices, in two different ways.
Please note: Goals, streaks or badges based on walks aren't available at the moment.
